The WA Deaf Society is delighted to announce the appointment of Rebecca Adam as Interim CEO. Rebecca has a long and proud connection to the Deaf community, both as a Deaf person and as an advocate for the Deaf and hard of hearing across Australia. She is a qualified lawyer and has extensive experience working in senior leadership roles in Deaf, corporate and government organisations. For the next 12 months, she will lead WADS as we transition to NDIS. Her focus is on better matching Deaf community needs with the services offered by WADS, as well as looking at creating a Deaf-friendly recruitment process for an ongoing CEO to start in the middle of next year.

Some of her recent career highlights include:

  • Executive roles at IBM and Deaf Children Australia
  • Board member roles at Victorian Deaf Society, International Committee of Sports for the Deaf, Australian Caption Centre
  • Member representative on numerous Department of the Attorney General Councils on discrimination and disability

We are excited to have Deaf leadership of our organisation as we continue building a prosperous future for WADS.
